I recommend you to install the following Windows feature to solve your problem:
Some of the methods you can use to try to correct this problem:
- Disconnected or damaged camera cable
Make sure that the camera is physically connected correctly and that the cable is not damaged.
- Antivirus software
If you have a third-party antivirus installed, uninstall it (temporarily) using the specific uninstall tool offered by the manufacturer.
- Activating the camera
Press the Windows+I keys, the Settings box will open. Click Privacy, and then click Camera. Note that the camera is enabled for use by applications. In some installations it will be necessary to activate it again using the function keys, pressing the FN key + some keys such as F6, F7, or F10. Or even the Alt+ F6, F7, or F10 combinations.
- Update the camera controller.
Open the Device Manager (devmgmt.msc) and expand Image Devices. Right-click on the camera and choose Check for Hardware Changes. Click on Update Driver Software > Search for driver software on your computer > Choose from a list of device drivers on your computer. Check the Show compatible hardware box and select the device that appears (if more than one appears, you will have to test each one). Click Next and wait for the driver installation to complete.
Note: If the camera is not listed in the Device Manager under Imaging Devices, connect the camera to another port and see if it is displayed. If it is not displayed either, click on the Action tab > Check for Hardware Changes.
If all these steps do not work, check the manufacturer’s website for an updated driver for your camera.
- For Windows 10 N and KN editions.
For these types of Windows 10 editions, you’ll need to install the Media Feature Pack (you’ll need to know the version of Windows 10)
If the camera still doesn’t work, you can try the following. For best results, try the possible solutions in the order they are presented.
Check if the device has a switch or a camera button
Some laptops and handheld devices have a physical switch or button that turns the camera on or off. When disabled, the device will not recognize that a camera is installed. If your computer has a switch or button, make sure it’s in the enabled position before using the camera.
